“To be who you needed when you were younger”
My name is Jau’Niece Lane originally from Detroit, MI. These roots have molded me into the great leader and trailblazer I am today. With a background in performing arts and by the grace of god, I was able to study at the great Bethune-Cookman University founded by Mary Mcleod Bethune where I earned by B.S in Psychology in 2018.
While in Daytona Beach, I was able to work in the social working field as a Case Manager with the department of Children and families to help reunify and provide services to families. I earned my Case Management Certification and Mandated reporter and Trauma informed training courses. Growing up social work and counseling were much one in the same but since then the two have departed into separate avenues.
I am currently a Counselor in training at Clark Atlanta University which hopes to graduate in 2027. Since being in GA, I have been trained in EOC and EOG test proctoring and also gained mandated reporter traning. Counseling is something that comes natural for me, as I have encountered many obstacles throughout life and have natural passion for providing guidance to the youth. Which I continue to do through a small mentoring group called Girls Connect.
My skills of listening, in a judgement free zone and collaborative problem solving would allow me to be a great team mate with my clients as we work together to address troubles they may face.
While I understand that every has their own experiences and reasoning for decision making. One thing that has always been important to me is to have that listening ear. Other days guidance is something I needed as well, just hoping someone could listen and help me in the right direction.
In my free time, I enjoy working with my mentee's to help teach emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills. I consider myself a performing arts kid as well so spend time watching musical theater and classical choirs as well. Most of all, I enjoy volunteering with many organizations but spend most of my time caring for horses at a local ranch ensuring they are provided with the upmost care.
